Vanessa Shepard-Smith specializes in healthcare-related services for universities, colleges, hospitals, and large and small healthcare facilities. Vanessa supports policy development, quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI under CMS requirements), healthcare accreditation (state, regional, and national), needs assessments, wound care, procurement/purchasing, research healthcare compliance (biosafety, needle stick safety, HIPAA, etc.), and external evaluation for healthcare grant awards and programs. She has degrees in both nursing and finance, is a state-licensed registered nurse (State of Indiana), and holds nationally recognized nursing and healthcare certificates. Andrew Shepard-Smith specializes in grant proposal writing, research regulatory compliance (including the regulations outlined in Title 2 CFR Part 200 and Title 42 CFR Part 93), development of responsive research policies and procedures, grant fraud mitigation, national program accreditation (and regional institutional accreditation), external program evaluation, the creation or expansion of new grant/research offices, enterprise-wide research risk assessments, and Research Ethics and Integrity (REI) trainings to support institutions seeking to comply with requirements for the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR). He holds degrees from Vincennes University, the University of Evansville, and the University of Cincinnati, and is a member of numerous professional organizations. Andrew is a compliance author and popular guest speaker with more than 20 years of experience as an executive research administrator, compliance officer, IP and technology transfer officer, and/or external evaluator.

Julia Jones provides support services for healthcare organizations, hospitals and institutions of higher education, including research, data mining, qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, portfolio management, protocol workflow, policy analysis, export control, restricted party screening (RPS), contract compliance, and grant proposals (including NIH and DHHS proposals) related to minority health and equity. Julia attended Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio, where she served as a student worker in the Office of Research and assisted in subaward management. Julia holds a baccalaureate degree in Political Science from The Ohio State University and a master's degree in Policy and Leadership (with a focus in Minority and Urban Education) from the University of Maryland, where she worked as a graduate student supporting research and export control.

Elliott provides the entire SSCC team with foundational clerical support, website maintenance, portfolio management, scheduling, invoicing, record retention, graphic design, illustration, editing, and much more. Elliott holds an Associate of Science from Vincennes University (Indiana) and was previously certified as a funeral director and is currently certified as a nursing assistant and home health aide while pursuing a degree in medical laboratory technology. Cheese is the newest addition to the SSCC family, and is a rescue cat who has recently been promoted to serve as SSCC's first Chief Entertainment Officer. He may often be seen climbing in laps or on shoulders during virtual calls, or playing in the office. His hobbies include running from window to window looking at squirrels, taking long afternoon naps, eating a Friskies® Lil' Soup, and watching animal videos on YouTube.
